This painting of Camp Polk Meadow is about the yellow greens of new spring growth against the darker greens of winter and the oranges of fall and winter grasses. Hints of pink in the grasses are signs of spring as well. And spring is hope!
Winnie Givot moved to Sisters in 1992 when she began seriously painting in watercolor, a medium which people say is the most difficult. But she learned to dance with it, to create beautiful transparent paintings with exacting detail as well as lovely loose passages, which she now teaches. More than 1000 of her paintings are in collections internationally, including those of Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama and George W. Bush, Deepak Chopra, and the Congress of Chile. Her work has been in numerous national and international exhibitions. She is in Who's Who in America and in the World.
