Original Pastel - 16" x 13"
'"Spring Hills" shows strong morning light on hills that border the Snake River in Northeast Oregon. It was spring and the light brings out the native grasses and balsam root along a cattle trail.
Northeast Oregon is a painters' heaven, with so much variation in terrain and textures. I especially look for landscape subjects that are dramatically defined by strong standing sun light. I'm very drawn to bold repetition and opposing shapes and lines. After 44 years in Central Oregon, we moved to Halfway in 2006 for the quiet and simplicity.
